Sun Signs - Pisces
Feb 20 - Mar 20
Ah the mystical Pisces.
Whenever I think of Magic in the world I think of Pisces. Pisces is the essence of all other signs wrapped up into one package. But, describing Pisces as being able to be put it into a package, then zip it up and stored away, excludes the reality of Pisces.
Pisces is the 12th sign of the Zodiac.
Element: Water
Gender: Feminine
Ruling planet: Neptune.
Ruling Body Parts: Feet, Eyes (Neptune), Lymph Glands, and Immune System.
The Sun goes into Pisces from approximately 2/18 to 3/21. (Please note that the Sun goes into each sign at varying times each year. This year if you live on the East Coast the Sun goes into Pisces on 2/19 at 2:35 PM.)
The symbol of Pisces represents two fish tied together at the tale. This shapes the essence and power of what Pisces is learning and incorporating in its evolutionary journey. In Greco-Roman Mythology Aphrodite and Her son Heros were bathing in the river and took the shape of fish to escape the danger of Typhon. They tied the rope around their tales as to not lose each other.
To me the Symbol of the Mother being tied together to the son is that of the Goddess Mother protecting the soul of all humanity. Pisces energy is of the Goddess perspective and how it integrates with the Earth plane. The divine mother lives and breathes and protects us in the union of the seas that bind us all together. To understand this source of energy one must gravitate toward the unification of the Goddess herself. This is no easy task.
With Pisces being the solar faculty of your chart you are learning the lessons of how to exude your Goddess\God like qualities. Pisces must at the same time integrate themselves into the everyday world. Pisces knows the beauty of utopia; it knows the pontification of compassion from the celestial realms. Pisces can feel the connectedness to all and it can journey into the esoteric like no other sign. It knows what it feels like to be one with God. The Problem is the dual nature of your biological body and the feeling of limitation imposed on you being in it. On one hand you have the power of God at your fingertips and at the other you are reminded of the “powerlessness” imposed on you by your human body.
It is this powerlessness that can succumb Pisces into its shadow. Since Pisces has Utopia tied to its tail it has a hard time seeing the world and the imperfections that are in it. Sometimes Pisces wants to run away from the world and find a place more familiar with its heavenly nature. According to Steven Forrest the shadow function of Pisces can lead Pisceans into a “Hallucinatory loss of self” causing them to “see the world as a dream”. While in this dream world the darkness of drug and alcohol abuse can start to find itself into the equation. What once was an easy way to dip out on the reality of the world finds itself confining the beautiful Pisces into a place of disillusionment. Sometimes society has a way of sucking the dreams away from the dreamer. The fact of the matter is that society is a mere backdrop into the drama of our karma. Society has no real power and once the Pisces can understand that it can come back into its true essence.
The above tale is only a cautionary tale and not one of a static perspective when it comes to Pisces. Not all Pisces are going to fall into the shadow of alcohol and drug abuse. It is in the shadow that the Pisces must find the Utopia within herself if she hasn’t already done so. To understand that the grounded nature that binds them to the light must remain so here on earth. To use this understanding to be an example of what we are trying to achieve in this world. A world that is full of Goddess like compassion with wisdom and understanding. Pisces is here to play the music, to sing the songs, to act, and create the dreams that others want to see in each other. While, other signs show creativity for themselves it is the Pisces that are here to be examples of the creative love for all. To help people remember what it’s like to be one with the source is the greatest gift Pisces can give.
