LeoSun Signs - Leo
Jul 23 - Aug 21

Whenever I think of the word Love, I think of Leo. When you hear the roaring from within, the brooding intensity of the relationship with the heart and soul, you are in the presence of Leo.  Then, when your journey finds it’s path through the heart, the Lion reveals his head for everyone to see and Leo’s destiny is revealed.

Leo is the 5th sign of the Zodiac.
Gender: Masculine
Element: Fire
Ruling planet: Sun
Ruling Body Parts:  Heart

Leo is Love, plain and simple. Leo is the beauty of the heart that gears it’s soul toward it’s creative form of self-expression. Leo has a magical overtone that dwarfs all other signs. It’s mere presence can be exhilarating or can be draining in a complete sense of neediness.

In Greek mythology, Leo is identified with the Nemean lion that Hercules was tasked to kill as part of his “Twelve Labours.”  The Nemean Lion was sent to Nemea to terrorize the city and was said to be invincible because of its protective golden fur. Hercules tried several methods to kill the Lion, but he was unable to penetrate the Lion’s fur. He finally tricked the Lion into his den where he hit the Lion with his club and choked him to death. Then, with the helpful advice of Athena, he used the Lion’s own claws to skin the pelt. He then took the pelt as a cloak of invulnerable armor and donned the Lion's head as a helmet. Hercules then placed the Lion into the sky as the constellation Leo. There he was able to use the strength of the Lion to continue on his journey.

Leos are here to roar. They are here to take the strength of Hercules and the protective shell of the Lion and be heard. They are not here to cower to the whims of others. Leos are here to feel comfortable on the stage of life with all eyes upon them. Asking a Leo not to roar is like asking the sun not to shine.

The Sun is the ruling "planet" for Leo and, just like the sun on a cloudless day, Leo is to brighten all that it touches. Leo must be grand and sincere to the expression of the heart. Then be heard in proximity to the soul that is closes to that same heart.

Leo’s expression is to be sought toward the courage you possess. That way Leo can stand firm in their convictions and answer to no one. For when the heart stands firm you are authentic, even regal. Be the leader you are destined to become or stand on stage with your voice strong. For the roar is not to be feared. It is to be respected and loved. When authentic, the Leos’ roars will sooth the fears of those around them.

As the Sun shall lead us to light so shall the Leos. But if Leos use their grand luminosity for selfish endeavors the roar becomes empty. Leo in its shadow can feel a sense of entitlement. That just because they exist they deserve the riches of the world and those who do not agree are mere stepping-stones for those who do.  If your voice is empty who will hear you? Who will want to listen? It can become hollow and insincere and those around them will turn them off.

The ancient mystery of the self comes through a level of oneness that is sometimes displayed as courage and honor. This selflessness is a beautiful ideal that Leo can shine through with their courage. Sometimes this courage manifests in the ego of the Leo. “I will sacrifice myself for my ego,” says the Lion. This happens when Leo allows the ego to be more powerful than the heart.  Leo must not fall into the trap of being the hero for the sake of being the hero. Leo must not trumpet its deeds for the sake of vanity. There are many heroes with no names. Leo must be ok with this and still lead with the understanding that they might not be noticed. We are here not only by the deeds of great leaders, but by the work of many.

The sun can be covered on a cloudy day but it's still there. Leo, just like the Sun, is luminescent and bold. You cannot be afraid of that...it's why you are a Leo... The Sun gives us our life and energy. Joy comes from what the sun brings. Sure the Shadow of Leo needs to find discernment in its path, but Leo's heart and expression cannot be closed off. No matter what!! If you have something to say that comes from the heart, then by all means say it. Do not worry, if someone cannot handle your heart then it's their problem, not yours. Leos in light are EXAMPLES of the heart expression for all signs. The minute it feels it needs to take a back seat and do as it's told is the minute the shadow takes over.

Feel the power of your essence and the joy in your heart as you are HEARD!!!
